ce Palace
In the first half of 2008, according to the provided drawings of the project, the specialists of the STC APM created a calculation model of the ice palace covering.
The structural analysis was carried out in the APM CivilEngineering software product in order to analyze the strength of the chain guy link rejoining unit.
Location of the sports complex: Krylatskoye, Moscow.

In total, more than ten separate loads were obtained, from which more than twenty calculation combinations were compiled, simulating various (including asymmetrical) loading of the structure in the process of its operation (taking into account installation errors).
After entering the full set of initial information, a static calculation of the structure for various combinations of load cases was carried out, as well as the calculation of natural frequencies and natural waveforms of the coating model was performed. Since the wind load during operation is variable, a dynamic analysis was additionally performed.
One of the most loaded elements in the structure are guy wires that hold the pylon. Their overall stress state was estimated on a rod model of the structure. But for a more detailed analysis of potentially dangerous places (points of connection of chain links), an additional solid model was created - an assembly, which included sections of chain links and a connecting element - an axis. Thus, the problem of contact interaction was additionally solved.
Thus, the carried out set of calculation measures made it possible to comprehensively consider the stress-strain state of the ice palace canopy and assess the performance of both individual elements and the entire structure as a whole.

Calculation
Structurally, the coating is modeled in the form of a metal-wooden frame, the upper part of which is covered with plates. The roof consists of several prefabricated sections, each of which consists of one beam resting on a concrete support on one side and on a ring beam on the other side, and two beams resting on a ring beam on one side and on the grandstand structures on the other side. The annular beam is held by cables, which converge and are fixed in the upper part of the pylon. The pylon is connected to the supports on the ground surface by two guy wires. Guy wires are a plate chain, the elements of which are connected by axles.
In addition to the rather difficult to create a calculation model, the complex of loads introduced into consideration required special attention.
Thanks to the known and defined cross-sections of the elements as well as the entered material parameters, the load case – self-weight – is automatically set. Components for taking into account the weight of the coating mounted on the frame and technological loads (additional suspension equipment, etc.) were added to it.
Since the geometric shape of the canopy structure is quite complex, several load cases (according to different application schemes and different intensities) were created for a better analysis to superimpose snow load and wind action. In particular, some loads provided for the asymmetrical effect of these force factors. In addition, graphs of changes in wind loads over time were set for dynamic analysis.
Separately, for subsequent introduction into the design combinations of loads, the possibility of settlement of the pylon supports and the error in the assembly of guy wires (possible difference in their lengths) were set.
