Bus Frame
The company STC "APM" performed a strength calculation of one version of the bus frame structure.
The purpose of the calculation is a static analysis of the bus frame, taking into account the current loads.
The calculation was carried out by order of OJSC Neftekamsk Automobile Plant in the APM WinMachine software product.

Results of the completed project
As a result of the static calculation, maps of equivalent stresses (according to Mises) were obtained. From the analysis, it follows that there are several weak points in the design - the places where the springs and shock absorbers of the front wheels of the bus chassis are attached to its frame. There are plates in the places of attachment, and the nature of the stresses in the considered areas is bending. The highest value of stresses in the fastening elements of the front wheels and reaches exceeds the permissible ones and is of a local (point) nature. The stresses in the rest of the rod and plate elements of the bus structure are within the permissible range.
The work carried out showed the applicability of the APM WinMachine software package for solving complex problems of strength analysis of road transport.

Calculation
The initial data provided by the Customer was a detailed solid 3D model of the bus frame. In this regard, the initial model can be divided only into volumetric finite elements, the number of which in such a complex model would be excessively large, then the only option for such a strength calculation of such a structure is to create it using rod and plate (shell) finite elements.
The calculation model is made in accordance with the drawings of the frame components:
floor frame;the frame of the sidewalls of the KamAZ semi-low-floor;

Z semi-low-floor;installation of a podium;frame of the front of the low-floor;frame of the rear of the low-floor;Low-floor roof frame.
The main difficulties in carrying out this calculation were associated with the creation of such a calculated model. Initially, a rod model of the structure was created, to the nodes of which plate elements were attached, participating in the creation of the stiffness matrix of the structure.
Boundary conditions for the calculation (loads and places of installation of supports) are also provided by the customer.
